PROPERTIES OF THE REAL NUMBERS

• Know and use the associative, commutative, and distributive properties by name and in simplifying expressions involving numbers and variables.

• Understand absolute value and evaluate expressions such as |2x - 3| + 3x.

Language Arts
7th graders are working on elements of fiction in the stories "The Cask of Amontillado" and "The Tell Tale Heart."  All students are currently working on persuasive writing with "Occasion/Position" essays.  

Science
7th grade is finishing their unit on cells and cell processes.  Science teamed with Art to learn living shapes with watercolor using salt and vinegar for different effects.  The organelle pictures were beautiful!

These beautiful works of art are in stark contrast to models built representing the organelle's function, not their appearance.




















Most important was the opportunity for students to see the "real deal" under the microscope.  Students observed and illustrated many cell types.
