Hello to all parents and staff of Legacy Academy.  The time is fast approaching when you get to elect directors to the Legacy Academy Board of Directors.  There are two open seats this year.  Each seat is for a three year term.
As per the Legacy Academy Bylaws:
The Institute shall have an Operating Council consisting of five members, four (4) of whom are parents; 1 community member at large, who may or may not be a parent.  The parent positions must be filled by parents of students currently attending the Institute and may not be filled by teachers or any paid employee.  At the option of the Board, one (1) parent position may be allocated to an additional community member at large, who may or may not be a parent.  This re-allocation of the parent position will be temporary and may be rescinded at any time by the action of the Board.  Only one (1) parent per family may serve on the Board at a time.
We are asking anyone interested in running for the board to submit a one page biography.  In that biography, we would like you to address the following questions:

3rd Grade TCAP Testing Window
February 15 -Reading, March 7-Writing, March 8-Math
4th thru 8th Grade
March 5-March 14
TCAP stands for Transitional Colorado Assessment Program. The purpose of TCAP is to measure student achievement relative to the Colorado Model. The TCAP replaces the CSAP in order to support schools as they transition to curricula aligned with the new Colorado Academic Standards.
We would like to urge all parents that your child arrive on time and is present during these tests. Testing begins first thing in the morning.
  • Please do not schedule trips or appointments during this time.
  • Please make sure your child is well rested and ready to test.
  • Provide a light and healthy breakfast and send a healthy snack.
  • Encourage your child and affirm them with words of praise like “You’ll do great!”  or “Believe in yourself!”
  • Remind your child to read all of the directions and answer all questions. Also, remind them to check their work and to do their best.
  • Absolutely no cell phones are allowed in the classroom. If discovered, they will be confiscated. It is best that they stay at home during this testing window. If a student needs to have one, they must be turned off and left in locker or turned into the office for safe keeping. The CDE is enforcing this rule.

Hoops for Heart

posted Feb 14, 2012 9:38 AM by Jessicca Marks   [ updated Feb 14, 2012 9:39 AM ]

Our annual Hoops for Heart event to support the American Heart Association will take place in two weeks.  Please encourage your middle school student to participate.  Our goals this year is to raise $1,000.00 collectively.  If each student was able to raise just $8.33, we would reach that goal.  Also, if we raise enough money, we'll be able to receive a gift certificate for new PE equipment.  WOW! It is very easy to register and all monies collected will support research and helping youngsters with heart problems.  The grade with the most money collected per student (average of those participating) will receive a pizza party for lunch. Only those students who participate will be rewarded with pizza.  We will finalize this with a basketball event in the gym (tournament, free throw shoot out, three point shoot out, and skills challenge).  Please help us out.
