Testing & Assessments
At Legacy Academy, teachers and administrators use student data to inform instructional and curricular decisions every day. Data driven decision making (or DDDM) allows teachers and administrators to better identify and serve your child’s unique learning needs. Assessments are an integral part of a robust learning environment.Some assessments are federally or state mandated. The CDE’s Assessment’s page with FAQ’s and fact sheets has many resources for parents to read through to better understand the state testing processes.
Testing Day Reminders:
Before any benchmark testing day, please make sure that your student:
- Has had a quality night’s sleep and starts the day with a healthy breakfast.
- Arrive to school on time so that testing may begin promptly as scheduled.
- Do not have any pre-scheduled appointments that would require them to be removed from the testing room once the assessment has begun.
NWEA Test Prep Resources
Legacy Academy administers the online version of the NWEA MAP Growth Assessments three times a year to track the growth and development of all students. NWEA offers online sample tests so that students may become familiar with how the test is administered and the types of questions they may encounter while completing the assessments at school. These sample tests supply a mixture of questions from multiple disciplines, and may help you or your child find a little extra help and confidence in the assessments they will take at the beginning, middle, and end of the year.
CMAS Test Prep Resources
As a public charter school, Legacy Academy will administer Colorado State Standardized Assessments as mandated by law. In order to better support families and students who will complete these assessments, the CDE provides practice tests on their website. We will test in the spring using the online format of the CMAS assessments, beginning in 3rd grade. You can find computer-based practice tests through Pearson’sTestNav.
