Legacy Academy is a tuition-free public charter school of choice, first established in 1997. We serve approximately 400 K-8 full-time students with an additional 80 students a part-time Homeschool Enrichment Program.
Legacy Academy serves families from Elbert and Douglas counties. We are a school alive with interactive learning, teachers equipped with current technology, and students engaged in a way that motivates, empowers and meets their individual educational needs. Each of our classrooms has access to current technology and the staff is continually searching for new and innovative approaches to education.
Lottery Policy
All students are welcome to apply to attend Legacy Academy. If the number of applicants received by the application deadline of October 31st exceeds the number of available spots at any grade level a lottery will be used to determine the placement of students at that grade level. The enrollment lottery will be held on the second Monday of November. All students who are of eligible age and have submitted a completed application by October 31st will be eligible for the lottery. Elizabeth School District requires children to be 5 years old on or before October 1st to be eligible to enter kindergarten.

Enrollment Lottery Process
The enrollment lottery will take place on the second Monday of November each year for all age eligible students who submitted an Intent to Enroll (ITE) by the October 31st deadline if there are more ITE forms than space available. Students will be selected by lottery for any grade that has more ITE students than space available, starting with the highest grades first.
For each grade that requires a lottery, a name would be drawn to determine the first name on the priority list. Once a name is drawn, that student will be offered a spot. If they have eligible siblings, those siblings will be automatically granted enrollment if there is space at their grade-level. The highest grades of the school will go through the lottery first, with the intent to keep as many families together as possible. Electronic programming may be used to conduct the lottery.
The next name is then drawn for that highest grade, and listed next in priority until all spots are filled. The remaining names are drawn one at a time to create the waitlist from which students will be offered spots as openings become available.
This same procedure is repeated for the next highest grade until kindergarten is complete.
Notification of Acceptance
When your student is drawn in the lottery, a member of our office staff will contact you with instructions to finalize enrollment.
