Positive CMAS Results

Did you see Legacy Academy in the ESD Good News Bulletin? Here is the article from Jeff Maher:

There's a lot to celebrate at Legacy Academy, including the latest CMAS (Colorado Measures of Academic Success) results from this past school year.

In 2024, the School Performance Framework (SPF) was 54.2%. Most of Legacy's categories ranked as approaching or did not meet expectations for student achievement and growth. In 2025, SPF was 74.6% and Legacy met expectations for both Academic Achievement (74.1%) and Academic Growth (75%). Legacy's middle school students exceeded expectations for overall growth at 87.5%. Some of the biggest wins for the school were in middle school math growth and elementary English Language Arts (ELA) growth.

Legacy Principal Tony Vruggink weighed in on the results.

"Over the last year, we made our primary focus student growth so that we could boost overall student achievement," he says. "Staff were given the tools they needed through improved curriculum, instructional framework and data support. It was the hard work of our staff, their collaboration and the attention they give each student at Legacy that helped produce these results. Legacy Academy staff understands that focusing on academics in our building and the culture we build are imperative to the overall success of our students. Our staff is amazing at what they do. As a charter school, we have a school of choice, and we want to serve the families of our school community by giving the best opportunity for success to all of our students."

"I am so enthusiastic about the direction of Legacy Academy," says Executive Director Merlin Holmes. "Our staff is invested in the success of our students' academics and character. The students are engaged and doing their best to be good students and open up opportunities for themselves in life. The School Performance Framework for last year reflects this effort, enthusiasm and engagement. It is great to see the recognition of all the work put in by parents, students and staff. Go Wildcats!!!"
