Friday Homeschool Civics

It has been my pure pleasure to have been a founding member of the Legacy Homeschool staff. These past years have proven to be fulfilling, educational (for both me and the students), and encouraging to see a generation of young people who are intellectually curious and wanting to learn. I have a deep appreciation of the time, effort, worry, sacrifice and creativity homeschool parents sink into their children's education. It shows in these young minds as they arrive in our enrichment setting.
This is my 4th year to teach Traditional Civics. We started with the Declaration of Independence year one. Year two we focused on the Constitution. Last year we spent time learning about the Bill of Rights, and this year we will share portraits of valor both of our founders and Medal of Honor recipients. We will always intertwine the structure and form of government throughout the year, as well.
On a personal note, my husband and I have lived in Elbert, Colorado since 1990. I have taught in public education too many years to count, mostly at the 5th grade level. The last 13 years before retiring I served as an elementary school counselor at Peyton, Elementary. Our two sons are grown and live in Washington State with their families, plus we have family and friends across the country, all of whom we visit as often as we can.

Favorite Quote:  "

Activities & Hobbies:
Horses! We have a small horse ranch outside of Elbert, Colorado where we enjoy riding our (now aging) horses as well as board neighbor's horses. My husband and I enjoy visiting Colorado hot springs, historical battlefields, reading (mainly history) and church activities.
