BIO Jill Grassnick

Jill Grassnick
5th

Teaching has been my passion for the greater part of my life. I graduated from college in 1982 with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in English. This is my fourteenth year at Legacy and my thirty-fifth year of teaching. Most of those years have been spent teaching fifth grade, which is what I teach here at LA. I live in Castle Rock with my husband. We have two daughters. Our older daughter is in Heaven and our younger daughter lives in Gunnison, where she guides rafting trips in the summertime and gives ski lessons in the wintertime. In my "spare" time I read, walk and garden. I believe that having high expectations for the students and being consistent in those expectations brings about high levels of success academically, relationally and personally, both in the classroom and outside of it. It is my goal to take a child from the level on which he comes into my classroom, and be instrumental in helping him rise above and beyond his dreams. That, to me, is success.

Favorite Quote:
Self-control is preferred high above teacher-control.

Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.
- Albert Einstein

Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.
